“All Aboard” for Local Holiday Tradition, Christmas Train Village

“All Aboard” for the Christmas Train Village

The Polk County Heritage Society ushers in the 2023 holiday season with their 21st Annual Christmas Train Village event. This favorite has been around for multiple generations and is one holiday tradition that locals have grown to count on to get into the Christmas spirit. The society owns and maintains both Heritage Park, in Historical Downtown Livingston, and The Christmas Train Village display. Each year volunteers decorate Locomotive #5 in Heritage Park and prepare their train village for its’ annual Christmas showing. kids enjoying the christmas toy train village

The Christmas Train Village display will be open and running on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 5pm to 7pm as well as Sunday afternoons from 12pm-4pm between November 24th and December 30th. It will be at 406 North Washington Avenue inside Good Golly Miss Molly’s. Train starts the day after Thanksgiving.

This isn't the normal small train that goes around someone's tree. This ‘O-gauge’ Christmas Train Village has many unique and interesting parts. There is a Christmas parade, depictions of local landmarks, a carnival with animated rides, a zoo, a fishing village, ski-mountains, bobsledders, ice skaters, a flying Santa and so much more. There is a circus train, passenger train, a freight train, a trolley, Thomas the Train, and the Polar Express.

The Polk County Heritage Society is a 501 c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of local history.  The society accepts donations to help with the maintenance of Heritage Park and the permanent structures on display including the Jonas Davis Log Cabin, Locomotive #5, and Heritage House. Please take a moment during this season of giving to support the Polk County Heritage Society in this endeavor. picture of christmas toy train village

After visiting the Christmas Train Village, enjoy a drive through town to see the many holiday light displays. Enjoy the Historical Main Street District, Anniversary ParkCity Hall, Heritage Park, the Public Library, Miss Effie’s Cottage and Pedigo Park. It’s a treat for all ages.

Livingston Specialty Merchants’ Guild and Livingston Main Street are so excited to invite everyone to play around at this event and to keep the fun going by shopping or staying in town like a local. Feel free to follow up the good time by grabbing dinner or dessert at one of our local places to dine. Most importantly, the Guild invites one and all to come have some time with our town to celebrate, make some memories, take some cute pictures, and see how we #LivLocal.
